In its weekly Natural Gas Storage Report for April 20-26, the EIA announced Thursday morning that inventories rose by +59 BCF. This was 13 BCF bullish versus the 5-year average but came in 8 BCF larger than my projection. With the build, inventories rose to 2484 BCF while the surplus versus the 5-year average narrowed slightly to +642 BCF. Storage is +436 BCF higher than this time last year. Storage levels are at 5 year highs for a 12th consecutive week.

Three out of the five storage regions registered bullish injections on the week, led by the South Central Region which saw a +16 BCF injection, 13 BCF smaller than its 5-year average. The Pacific and Midwest regions also saw slightly bullish builds at +5 BCF and +13 BCF, 4 BCF and 2 BCF bullish versus their 5-year averages, respectively. On the other hand, the East Region—which was consistently mild throughout the week—saw the largest injection at +17 BCF...
